Change in Myself

From the beginning, I lacked self-confidence. I did not have enough confidence to do something extraordinary. Although I was so intelligent in my studies and secured more than 90% grade in my matriculation and Intermediate. But, one with extraordinary grades cannot survive in this world full of professional and experienced people. There is a need to work on one’s soft-skills too.

I was like this rusted bike with a lot of passion inside but was rusted from the surface with low confidence. As one cannot get knowledge of anything without experiencing it. So, I applied for Amal Fellowship to get rid of that rust. I struggled a lot in the beginning while talking to other fellows and friends in Amal batch 164. I realized I lack many things in myself.

When I started this journey, I had nothing in mind about soft skills. My point of view was that these are needed in professional life only. But I was wrong. Personal development helps you in every field of life either it is your school life, college life, university life, personal, or professional life.

At Amal Fellowship I explored many new things. It has changed my point of view. The most fascinating thing was their way of teaching. They polished the skills we had in us.

The first remarkable impact I remember is their formula for saying “How can I do it?” Instead of “I can’t do it”. I got an internship and afterward the job only because of this rule. I accepted the new projects as a chance for learning. This led me to the point where that company found something in me and they offered me a job.

Another habit I learned from this fellowship is appreciating others and taking the lead whenever any unexpected situation arises. I had a fear that I cannot lead others but after this fellowship program I got to believe in myself and as a result, I applied for a Co-lead post at ACM Society UET and I got selected a weak ago.

At the end of this program, I realized that I am free from the rust I had on me just like the bike in the picture. My point of view has changed now.

I also have developed a thought of learning new skills and getting command of them. This will help me in my upcoming days, In shaa Allah.
